Gifts: Paisley Pomegranate's new Salt Lake City Location...

As mentioned in a previous post, Paisley Pomegranate's Salt Lake City has moved from their Sugarhouse location.  Their new address is:

Paisley Pomegranate
4677 Holladay Blvd.
Holladay, UT
Phone:  801-948-4347

Paisley Pomegranate's Park City store is still located at:
1743 West Redstone Center Drive
Park City, UT
Phone:  435-575-0300

I visited the new Salt City location over the weekend and saw that it provides them with more room for merchandise, including all the lovely locally handmade items that are a treat to find.  I recommend checking them out---there are some gorgeous hand-knitted lined mittens, unusually beautiful hand-knitted scarves and many other items (I'd love to put on my Christmas want list).  The prices on these pieces are surprisingly reasonable, considering they are handmade by local artisans---and gorgeous!

Park City's Paisley Pomegranate just sold two of my paintings (the last they had) over the last couple of weeks, and begged requested me to bring in more.  I delivered several more of my paintings to them and to the Holladay store, along with my historic architecture jewelry boxes. Stop in and see them, bring along a friend or two, oh heck---bring the whole family and let me know what you think!

Artwork: Floater Frames for Encaustic Paintings

Above:  Floater frame in natural trim with black background.

I found a source for reasonably priced nice looking good quality ready-made floater frames that are perfect for encaustic paintings.  Many sizes are available, including the size I needed for a dozen or so of my own paintings in the 12"x12" format.  The advantage of the floater frame for the encaustic paintings on board is that the edges of the encaustic piece are not covered over by the frame moulding, as in standard frames.  Several color finish combinations are available, as well as two depths:  3/4" and 1-1/2".  Here are links to both:

Artwork: Greyhound Portrait

Above:   Harri-Berri, acrylic on canvas - Toni Youngblood 2010
I'm in the middle of painting a portrait of my funny, wild-child, princess girl greyhound, Harri-Berri holding onto a favorite sunbeam.  Every now and then, mixed in with her silly bouncing self, she looks especially regal, almost Audrey Hepburn like.  Thus is the pose in which I caught her for the portrait currently up on my easel---shown above.

Creativity: Meet 2011 TED Prize Winner: JR

Click on the following link,  Meet 2011 TED Prize Winner: JR for an amazing video clip of the work JR.  The video is embedded in the website of the  Compassionate Action Network - Awakening compassion in our children ourselves and in the world.  The project by JR is very upbeat.  Reactions from historically opposing (socio-economic, political, religious, racial, gender) sides in most cases are surprisingly positive.

Have a great weekend!
