I prefer Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), and All Saints Day celebrations to Halloween. Remembering our loved ones who have left this life, that's the point of these two celebrations and I have happy memories of visiting Mexico and Italy (Sicily) during this beautiful time of year. This is a celebratory painting I completed this week!

Tattered Plaster Chic

Above:  Frontage Wallpaper

Some of the examples below show old brick walls that have been partially covered over with plaster, leaving some of history to show.  Others have plastered only the newly constructed walls and leave the old wall finishes intact.  One of my favorites is the huge crack in the wall plaster which is celebrated by surrounding it with an elegant picture frame.  The most surprising may be the first photograph, which is actually wallpaper exhibiting a "view" of an old plaster wall with parts missing and other areas decimated by age.
