Artwork: Little diving diva made it into the Show!

Watercolor painting by Toni Youngblood 2010

Expecting to fly
There you stood on the edge of your feather,
Expecting to fly.
While I laughed, I wondered whether
I could wave goodbye,
Knowin' that you'd gone.
By the summer it was healing,
We had said goodbye.
All the years we'd spent with feeling
Ended with a cry,
Babe, ended with a cry,
Babe, ended with a cry.
I tried so hard to stand
As I stumbled and fell to the ground.
So hard to laugh as I fumbled
And reached for the love I found,
Knowin' it was gone.
If I ever lived without you,
Now you know I'll die.
If I ever said I loved you,
Now you know tried,
Babe, now you know I tried.
Babe, now you know I tried,
Babe.
~Neil Young

This year's Utah Watercolor Society Fall Show theme is: "Inspired by a Poem". I'm happy to share the news that my watercolor painting, There you stood on the edge of your feather expecting to fly, inspired by the Neil Young poem, Expecting to Fly, was selected for the UWS Fall Show.

P.S. Yes, I'm a closet romantic---everytime I read this poem or hear it sung, my throbbing little young-love heart bleeds.
